If you are guided by the law, any citizen of the Russian Federation over 25 years old, with a legal experience of at least 5 years, can become a judge. Information is also provided on the income of spouses and information on minor children, in accordance with the Law of the Russian Federation “On the Status of Judges in the Russian Federation” dated June 26, 1992 No. 3132 as amended by the Law of the Russian Federation dated 25.12.2008 No. 274-F3.

After the panel of judges checks the accuracy of the documents and facts provided. The qualification board reserves the right to apply to law enforcement or other bodies for the fact of checking the authenticity of documents. Applicants are checked through the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the prosecutor’s check and the customs service.

If the authorities revealed inaccuracy of information or facts, the commission has the right to refuse the applicant for the position. If no violations are found, the commission recommends the applicant for the vacant position. The decision of the board may be appealed through a court if the procedure established by law for the selection of applicants is violated.
