Reliable ways to destroy midges in the apartment
You can meet these small insects in almost any settlement on the globe. The appearance of indoor midges in a house is always very annoying to the owners and makes them look for effective ways to deal with them. Fortunately, getting rid of these annoying insects is easy enough if you use the recommendations of specialists.
To achieve the best result, the extermination of midges is recommended in three stages:
- Detection of the habitat of midges and their destruction.
- The construction of traps for those flying insects that have already managed to escape.
- Carrying out a complex of measures aimed at protecting against midges in the future.
Having found out where the habitat of these insects is, you should proceed to their removal.
To do this, use one of the methods that are well established throughout the world. Thanks to the advice of specialists, to cope with this problem once, and forever, will be completely uncomplicated.
Tip # 1: traps!
Trap made from a jar or plastic cup. This method of luring midges is very simple and does not require special expenses. You will need an old unnecessary jar or other similar capacity. You can even use an ordinary plastic cup. The selected container is filled with apple cider vinegar (ordinary white vinegar is also suitable, in which several drops of liquid soap with lemon aroma are added). The smell of this mixture is extremely attractive to insects.
After the container is full, cover it with a lid or tighten with cling film. Then, using a thick needle, a nail or an awl, small holes are pierced on the surface of the can (not more than the size of a midge), allowing insects to enter the can. The trap should be placed in all places where an accumulation of flying insects was found. Such a device lures them with its aroma, but does not allow them to get out. A container filled with dead midges should be thrown into the bin. This method is excellently used in cases when it is impossible to use chemical means of controlling insects (for example, in the case of small children living in an apartment).
If necessary, vinegar can be replaced with any ripe fruit that exudes aroma (peaches, pears, banana), stewed fruit from natural ingredients, and even a used tea bag.
Wine and soap trap
To do this, you need a small container (for example, a glass cup), which is filled with red wine for three quarters. A drink that remains in the house after an event is perfect.
Add a few drops of liquid soap to the contents of the cup and mix gently. After this, you can leave a trap in the zone of distribution of midges. The smell of wine will attract insects and they will try to sit on the surface. However, due to the fact that the detergent reduces the surface tension of the liquid, the midges will drown.
Tip number 2 - spray!
This product can be purchased at many supermarkets and hardware stores.
Tip # 3: handle the sink
Several processing methods are currently known. Firstly, you can use any vegetable oil. Oily liquid is poured into the sink, as a result of which all the gnats living in the pipes die.
Secondly, the shell can be treated with a dilute solution of ammonia, which kills all insects, as well as their larvae.
Helpful informationadding to the sewer, in addition to the main mixture, two tablespoons of soda and a glass of white vinegar, you will be able to significantly neutralize the fetid odor in the room.
Tip # 4: process plants
Often midges start in the soil soil of domestic flowers and even lay eggs in it. First of all, it is worth stopping watering and waiting for the complete drying of the top layer of soil, as a result of which the insect larvae must die.
Then you need to process the foliage and stems of plants with a spray prepared at home. To do this, a soapy solution with a lemon odor is induced in a spray bottle. Having sprayed indoor flowers, you need to leave them for a couple of hours - this time should be enough to ensure that all insects die. After this, a soap solution should be removed from the plants to avoid damage to the foliage.
If all these measures do not help, and you still notice insects creeping over the house flowers, you should transplant the plants into new pots and completely replace the soil. Remember to also make good drainage.
Tip # 5: Food and Hygiene
It is necessary to regularly clean the kitchen and timely empty containers from the garbage. All products must be stored in sealed containers in the refrigerator, or in the closet. It is not recommended to leave food on the table open. Dirty dishes in the sink are also an excellent bait for insects that have appeared, so it is recommended to wash them immediately after eating.
Tip # 6: close all trash bins in the house tightly
Garbage sites are very attracted to midges. Taking out the trash bin daily from the house, and carefully covering the containers with food waste in the courtyard, you deprive insects of the opportunity to breed. Garbage containers should be washed regularly.
Tip # 7: Carefully Cover Doors and Windows
If you need to constantly ventilate the room, it is recommended to install a rigid grid on the windows with small holes.
Advice number 8: do not allow the appearance of damp in the house
Pups breed well in humid places, so you need to regularly wipe the damp corners of the room with a disinfectant. Do not leave wet towels and sponges on the table for washing dishes. Kitchen mats should be systematically dried.
Tip number 9: do not water indoor plants too abundantly
When watering flowers, you must make sure that the earth is quite moist, but not wet. This will prevent the reproduction of insect larvae in the soil.
And most importantly - do not give up: you will succeed!
