Unusual painting of walls in the room using a stencil, sponge, rag and other painting techniques

In ordinary residential volumes, the wall area exceeds the total quadrature of the floor and ceiling. By virtue of this, the need for a thorough and even meticulous approach to wall decor is obvious. Decoration with the use of stencils is one of the rather unusual and at the same time quite common decoration techniques. Methods of "contingency" painting also have a long tradition and many specific designs.

Stencils

With a minimum of skills, you can create them yourself in a few minutes. Of course, some complex varieties of such patterns may require many hours to produce. According to how the drawing is applied, the original cliches are divided into several varieties:

Simple or in one color. It is these that are used for quick and clear inscriptions.
Complex or combined. Here, with the help of several templates and applied colors, you can realize an image of almost any complexity.
Volumetric variety. When the screen fragments themselves are made of plastic or metal. The drawing is then putty putty.
Reverse or negative template. Here, the area around such a fragment is painted over. And the areas closed to him are obtained as if flickering along the contour.

Today, you can buy ready-made clichés of various types and drawings in the trade places of the corresponding profile or on the Internet. They are made of PVC plates or film on a strong vinyl base.

Choosing the location of such a pattern and thinking through the image itself in all details, in fact, is the most important part of the whole decor process. Very naturally, such compositions look on the walls by the beds, tables, next to windows and doors.

Work principles:

the template is best done on the plotter, so you can avoid bumps and burrs;
the decorated wall must be smooth, without dirt and moisture;
First you need to try to draw a picture on a piece of wallpaper or plywood. So you can practice and see how everything will look on the wall;
When working with a spray or sponge, brush or roller, it must be remembered that a minimal amount of paint should be applied. Before applying to the wall, it is better to transfer the excess to the same old wallpaper.

Unconventional staining

Painting the walls can turn them into stylish and eye-catching panels. Here you will need a desire, coupled with imagination and some unusual tricks of work. There are several relatively simple and effective techniques for the original painting of walls. They can be used by a person without possession of any special skills and work experience. Before actually working here, it will be quite enough to try one or another way of painting on a piece of drywall, plywood or just thick paper.

Sponge work

The perfect option here would be a real sea sponge. A sponge for car washing will do. Foam rubber will not work for sure. He leaves his particles on the surface being formed.

Previously, the wall section is painted over with the main color scheme. Only after complete drying can decorate begin. A sponge soaked in water and well wrung out is slightly moistened with a water emulsion dye of a lighter or darker (compared to the original) shade. The application of the layer is carried out by tangentially blotting movements, without strong pressure. Here you can’t rush and take a lot of paint into a sponge at once. You should also strive for maximum uniformity of the resulting layer.

At the end of work, let the wall dry completely. This usually takes less than an hour, as the resulting coating is very thin. Further, a similar cycle can be repeated more than once, each time changing the applied shade. As a result, a unique texture and complex color depth will be obtained on the surface.

Using a rag

Here, too, a carrier color layer is preliminarily created. After it completely dries with a two- or three-inch brush in a plot of about 1-1.2 square meters. painting is done with a slightly lighter color scheme. Immediately over this area, pre-twisted rag rollers make rolling in different directions and without stopping. It is necessary to have in stock several of these rag rolls. If one is soaked with paint, then it is changed to fresh.

The resulting unpredictable pattern with some textile depiction of the smallest details gives a truly unique wall decoration. So can be painted on the selected area or the wall as a whole.

You can also experiment with brushes of different stiffness bristles. You can wipe the paint with a semi-dry brush. The main thing is to get the result that will be pleasing to the eye and will not discord with other design and decor.
