Antalya beaches: the best sandy beaches of the famous resort
Antalya is the most famous resort city of Turkey, which in 2018 was visited by more than 10 million tourists. This popularity of the resort is explained not only by its Mediterranean coast, but also by its modern infrastructure, which allows you to choose hotels for every taste. The city is rich in attractions, both historical and entertainment. And the beaches of Antalya and the surrounding area are very diverse and differ from each other in some respects. In some places you will find privacy with nature, in others - around the clock fun and noise. In this article we will analyze in detail the 7 most worthy beaches of the resort, as well as advise which hotels are best to stay.
Konyaalti
Konyaalti Beach in Antalya is located 9 km from the city center and is one of the most visited in the resort. Its length is more than 8000 m, and its width reaches 50 m. The shore is covered with sand mixed with fine pebbles. In some parts of the beach, the entrance to the sea is gentle, in others it is steep with stones at the bottom, so if you plan to relax here with the children, you will have to look for a suitable site. The local coast is divided into two zones: wild, where unpretentious tourists can relax on their towels, and equipped, offering all the necessary amenities, including fencing for changing clothes, open showers and toilets. For a fee (10 TL), you can rent a sunbed.
Cleaners are constantly working in the equipped part of Konyalta, which is why it is pretty clean. The safety of the beach is confirmed by the Blue Flag. On its territory there is a bar where they sell drinks and food at affordable prices. Near the coast there are playgrounds and exercise machines in the fresh air, there are pedestrian and bicycle paths. You can get to Konyaalti by city buses following routes No. 5, No. 36 and No. 61. From Lara there is a minibus KL 8.
To Topcham
The beaches of Antalya, the photos of which are presented on this page, are primarily distinguished by their picturesque natural landscapes. And the Topcham coast, adjacent to the Olympos National Park, was no exception. The beach is located 20 km south-west of the central city streets, its length is approximately 800 m. This secluded sand and pebble beach is considered one of the most environmentally friendly and clean in Antalya. There is a barbecue area, as well as restrooms, showers and sun loungers. The beach is perfect for families with children.
Entrance to Topcham is paid, costs 6 TL per person or 18 TL at the entrance to the park by car. You will like the beach if you are looking for tranquility and solitude, because there are few tourists here. Nearby there is a cafe where you can eat, but most vacationers themselves organize their lunch on the grill. Getting to the place is more convenient by car, and by public transport it is easiest to leave Konyaalti by KL 08 bus with a change at the Sarisu Depolama stop to the minibus AF04, KC33 or MF40.
Beach park
In addition to the popular Lara beach in Antalya, there is another very interesting place called Beach Park. Active vacationers will definitely like it: after all, it offers a lot of sports entertainment, and disco clubs work at night. The coast stretches for 1.5 km and has a sandy surface. The beach park is divided into several paid zones, equipped with showers, toilets and changing rooms, and everyone can rent sun loungers.
On one side of the beach is a Sheraton hotel, on the other - a water park where you can have a great time with children. Bars and cafes lined the coast, many of which transform into clubs at night. The Beach Park is always noisy and crowded, and mostly young people relax here. The place is 3.5 km from the central quarters, and it is easy to get here by the old tram, reaching its terminal station Muze, or by bus No. 5 and No. 61. Minibuses number 8 go from Lara to Beach Park.
Mermerly
In addition to Lara, among the sandy beaches in Antalya, Mermerli deserves special attention. This is one of the first beaches of the resort, located in the historical part of the city, near the old marina. The coast here stretches no more than 100 m, and the entry into the sea is steep enough, and at a depth you will find yourself after a couple of meters. Mermerli's territory is quite limited: sunbeds with umbrellas are crowded on a small sandy patch, which causes discomfort. So the place is absolutely not suitable for families with children.
You will find the entrance to Mermerli in the eponymous restaurant, located right on the coast. Here you need to pay 17 TL for using the beach amenities (sun loungers, toilets, showers). A bonus is the ability to order food and drinks without leaving the sunbed. Despite some disadvantages, tourists fell in love with the area for the picturesque nature of its rocky landscapes and the purity of sea waters. You can get to the Old Town by city bus number 5 and number 8, from the gate of Adrian you will reach the place in 5-7 minutes (about 600 m).
Adalar
Photos of the beaches of Antalya in Turkey demonstrate how unique the individual corners of the resort can be. Adalar is a special place, which did not settle at all on the sandy shore, but on platforms installed in the rocks. It is just over 2 km from the city center. The paid area has everything you need - toilets and showers, changing rooms and sunbeds. Descent to the sea is carried out by steep stone stairs, so families with small children are unlikely to be comfortable here. But then Adalar will be appreciated by the seekers of peace and quiet surrounded by pristine natural landscapes.
KaraalioğluAbove the beach lies the park Karaalioğlu, walking along which you can enjoy breathtaking sea views. Near Adalar there are several cafes serving snacks and drinks. You can get to the beach by city bus number 6 and number 64 or on the old tram, landed at the station Belediye. If your starting point is Lara, catch bus number 8.
Lara
Many hotels in Antalya are located on the beach of Lara - the most popular coast of the resort. The long coastline is 3500 m long and up to 30 m wide, located 18 km from the city center. The coast is dotted with coarse dark sand, the entrance to the sea is uniform, for which families and young children love the area. Lara Beach is divided into several zones, many of which belong to hotels, but there is also a free public area. On its territory you will find changing cabins, latrines and showers. The cost of renting sunbeds with umbrellas is only 5 TL. Lara is notable for its cleanliness; the sea here is transparent with cold and warm currents.
SandlandVarious cafes and bars stretch along the coast, and the Sand Sculpture Museum is nearby, where an international competition for the best sand figure is held annually. Near Lara there is a conveniently equipped barbecue area. Most of the people here gather at the weekend, when in addition to tourists, locals come here. You can get to Lara from the center in about 40-50 minutes by buses No. 18, 30, 38, 77.
Kundu
If you are looking for the answer to the question of which beaches in Antalya are sand or pebble, then we hasten to inform you that most of them still please with a sandy coating. These definitely include the coast of the young resort of Kundu, which is located 20 km east of the central urban areas. This is the beach next to Lara, where there are several hotels, but there is also a municipal zone. The wide coast attracts tourists with its golden sand, before entering the sea there is a small pebble strip, but the bottom itself is soft, swimming with children is permissible here. In the southern part of the coast is occupied by rocks, and swimming is prohibited there.
There is practically no infrastructure on the public Kundu beach: there are several free sunbeds and a couple of canopies. Local beach bars belong to hotels where they are not allowed to go without bracelets. However, many tourists liked the pacific atmosphere and the low population of the beach. You can get to Kundu from a stop near the Antalya Museum by LC07 bus.
